After Birth – A poem by Nadia Chaney
There are butterflies in all the caverns of my life
And stars to shine through all my nights
Buried deep inside myself
I’ve begged my brain to send for help
But nothing ever comes it can’t
Cause nature grew things on a slant
For all my prayers
My pleas and chants
It’s death that comes and peace she grants
Like water flows thru these two hands
The only thing that life demands
Is that every breath is just a guess
Until death comes to rest my lungs
